Administrator's Profile

Kent Weaver accepted his role as the Administrator of the Howard County Health Department in February 2008, after a diverse and lengthy history of education, work, and volunteer activity. Kent attended Kokomo High School, developed an interest in martial arts, and managed restaurants before college. He is a “huge” IU sports fanatic.

Kent is a proud past employee of Indiana University, serving in Bloomington as an Associate Instructor in the School of HPER, as a member of the IU Natatorium staff in Indianapolis, and as a staff member for 3 summers at Camp Brosius; IU’s Alumni Family Camp, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

Kent worked as a Department Head at Howard Community Hospital for 17 years. He has been a certified swimming pool operator (CPO) for over two decades. Kent has a strong understanding of computer applications in business, and is committed to enhancing the Howard County Health Department’s computer processes.

In 1998, Kent was appointed to the City of Kokomo’s -Crown Point Cemetery board, and continues serving as the board’s President. He also volunteered as a firefighter, fire Instructor, and Chief Financial Officer for the Harrison Township Fire Department until his retirement in 2008. As a firefighter, Kent has worked within the National Incident Management System (NIMS), and has the practical insight to administer HCHD’s Hazard Preparedness efforts.

During his educational and work career, Kent has earned numerous honors and awards. These include: induction to the IUPUI Honorary Society, the Phi Epsilon Kappa Scholarship Key, the Indiana University-William Stecher Outstanding Graduate Award, and an Indiana University Full Graduate School Scholarship. In 2004, Kent received the Medical Fitness Association - Don Schneider National Meritorious Service Award. Kent has also been elected by the tax-payers of Harrison Township, to serve his second term on the Harrison Township Board. Kent also serves on the Howard County Township Consolidation Commission. He has been an Indiana Licensed Teacher since 1985.
